Mirrors, Furniture and Art crafted from reclaimed wood from the sea and land.
Water is the Earth’s most skilful designer. Water and the tidal moon are our keenest architects. Nothing that comes from the sea is ugly. Everything is sculpted and smoothed into an ergonomic rhythmically satisfying aesthetic. Every shell, fin, stone and scale, driftwood and all the flotsam of man’s manufacture is eventually whittled and worn into a pleasing aquatic beauty. (By A.A. Gill)
A beach baby in Jamaica and Singapore, my father taught in the army there, to a childhood beach combing with the family at Elmer Sands in Sussex. The sea and sand is in my blood. After a travelling existence, I settled near another beach at Climping, West Sussex and based my workshop at home focussing on driftwood mirrors and sculpture.
I now live in a narrow boat on the Oxford Canal, and my workshop is based close by at Claydon in an old railway carriage.
Discovering the abundant beauty and wildness of nature from my motor home is an inspiration to me. Travelling both at home and abroad provides a rich source of woodland and beach material, which is incorporated in my work.
My art is almost entirely composed of reclaim and recycle material, tactile and fluid it aims to capture a little of the sweet mystery at the heart of nature.
